Gyotaku is a traditional Japanese art that translates to "fish rubbing."
Japanese fishers used to record the size of their catch by painting the fish with sumi ink then rubbing washi paper on top to pick up the print, capturing a detailed, life-sized record of their fish!
Whether you're using a real fish or a replica, use Yasutomo’s Gyotaku Kit to create your very own fish prints.

Kit includes:
After you've used up the ink and washi papers included in the kit, restock with our liquid sumi ink (2 oz, 6 oz or 12 oz) and washi paper pad (6JM).
⚠️ Disclaimers ⚠️
We do not recommend eating fish that has been used for gyotaku. Our ink is intended for art and is not considered food-grade. Wash your hands after doing gyotaku to remove as much ink as possible.
